Margate 0 AFC Hornchurch 2
Saturday 6th September
The Urchins left Hartsdown Park today clutching three valuable and well earned points. In very blustery conditions second half strikes by Mark Goodfellow and Kris Lee ended the recent goal drought and put the smiles back on everyones face. You can listen to Margate's excellent 'Gate Radio' match commentary by clicking HERE.

Fiston Manuella
Fiston Manuella signs for the Urchins
Friday 5th September
The Club are delighted to announce the arrival at Bridge Avenue of talented midfielder Fiston Manuella. Fiston has an excellent pedigree playing for such teams as Chelmsford City,
Crawley Town and Aldershot. Welcome aboard Fiston!

F.A. Cup Opponents Decided
The Urchins meet Saffron Walden of the

Eastern Counties Division One in the First Qualifying Round of this season's F.A. Challenge Cup Competition after The Bloods defeated Harefield 2-0 in their Preliminary Round replay. Saffron Walden have already demonstrated that they have no fear of higher league oposition and so will prove a stiff test for the Urchins. The tie is to be played on Saturday 13th September.

Tooting & Mitcham United 2 AFC Hornchurch 0
Tuesday 2nd September
The Urchins suffered their second League defeat in four days as they went down 2-0 to newly promoted Tooting & Mitcham. Again it was a case of plenty of effort with little reward. There is certainly no need to push the 'panic button' at such an early stage in the season as a couple of good victories will put the smile back on everyones face.

AFC Hornchurch 0 Staines Town 2
Saturday 30th August
History did not repeat itself at Bridge Avenue this afternoon as Staines Town inflicted the second home defeat of the season on a lacklustre Urchins. Staines were always that yard faster and deserved their win. A goal in each half sercured the points for the Swans. The Urchins have little time to regroup as they play away to newly promoted Tooting and Mitcham United this coming Tuesday evening

Heybridge Swifts 0 AFC Hornchurch 0
Monday 25th August
In a hard fought game with few scoring chances a draw was probably the predictable result - with the blustery conditions not helping either side. The Urchins came closest to scoring when a Simon Parker goalbound effort just before the break was adjudged not to have crossed the line. So the Urchins started this season, as they did the last, with a win, loss, win and draw. And the result of our fifth game last season was a win - so this Saturday's home game versus Staines Town should be very interesting.

AFC Hornchurch 1 Dover Athletic 0
Saturday 23rd August
A 34th minute Frank Curley blockbuster was enough to earn the Urchins all three points against a lively Dover side at Bridge Avenue this afternoon. Whilst it could not be said that we were firing on all cylinders the lads showed tremendous character in bouncing back from the defeat against Carshalton earlier in the week. The team put in a solid performance and the win lifts them three positions higher in the League table.

AFC Hornchurch 0 Carshalton Athletic 2
Tuesday 19th August
After last Saturday's result at Ramsgate hopes were high for another three points this evening. However it was not to be as a determined and skillful Robins side claimed the spoils. Of course we had our chances, particularly in the first half, but it wasn't really our night. Carshalton look a very strong outfit and should do well this season. We now move on to another tricky encounter when we entertain League leaders Dover Athletic at Bridge Avenue this coming Saturday.

Ramsgate 1 AFC Hornchurch 2
Saturday 16th August
Our hosts provided a warm and hospitable welcome on a bright sunny day truly meant for football. The pitch was in superb condition and a credit to the club. First half goals by Simon Parker and Dean Green were enough for the Urchins to earn all three points (with the help of another Dale Brightly penalty save!) but a catalogue of missed chances could have made the score a lot less flattering for the home side. However, Colin and the lads will be pleased with the win as we move on to our home encounter with Carshalton Athletic next Tuesday evening. Click HERE for Match Report

Steffan Ball Signs for Urchins
Thursday 14th August
We are delighted to announce that talented striker Steffan Ball has joined the Urchins from fellow Ryman Premier Club Ramsgate. Steffan brings with him a wealth of experience which will help us greatly in our quest for promotion. Stefan will be in the line up this Saturday when the Urchins play his former team, Ramsgate, in our first RPL game of the new season.

Chesham United 1 AFC Hornchurch 2
Saturday 9th August
Stefan Ball put the Urchins in front after 13 minutes and Andy Tomlinson increased the lead just after the restart. The hosts pulled one back in the last few minutes but it was a confident performance by the Urchins which will boost the team's confidence as they head to Ramsgate next Saturday for their first Ryman Premier League game of the season.

AFC Hornchurch 0 Met. Police 0
Tuesday 5th August
In a game where few scoring chances fell to either team a stalemate was always going to be the outcome. The highlight of the evening was probably the excellent second half penalty save by Urchins 'keeper Dale Brightly. Colin again used this opportunity to view a number of trialists and with only one more pre-season friendly to go his plans will surely be taking shape. We thank Met. Police for giving our lads such a good run out this evening and wish them well for the coming season.

Great Wakering Rovers 2 AFC Hornchurch 0
Saturday 2nd August
Colin used today's game to see what our trialist players had to offer so whilst the result did not go in our favour the game did provide the opportunity to plan for the season ahead. Our thanks to Great Wakering who were the perfect hosts and we wish them well in their 2008/09 campaign.

AFC Hornchurch 3 Leyton Orient XI 2
Thursday 31st July
AFC Hornchurch retained the Barbara Jones Memorial Trophy in a very entertaining game watched by a crowd of 324. Goal scorers for the Urchins were Des Boateng, Mark Goodfellow and Simon "Jesus" Parker. Our thanks go out to Leyton Orient for providing such an excellent workout for our lads. The Urchins played some very flowing football this evening and all bodes well for the season ahead.

AMAX Lifts - AFCH Shirt Sponsors 2008/09
Tuesday 29th July
The Club are delighted to announce that the winning Company in the 08/09 season Patron's Scheme for shirt sponsorship is Amax Lifts and are even more delighted that the Managing Director of Amax Lifts, Stuart Deeble, and his family, are Urchin regulars.

East Thurrock United 2 AFC Hornchurch 2
Tuesday 29th July
The Urchins found themselves 2-0 down at the break but second half strikes from Dean Green and Ross Wall earned the lads a creditable draw. Congratulations to young Ross for netting his first senior team goal - the first of many we are sure. The action now moves back to Bridge Avenue when we entertain Leyton Orient this coming Thursday (31st July) k.o. 7.45pm. The Urchins will be looking for a more competitive game against the O's, having secured a 5-0 win in last season's encounter.

Biggleswade Town 1 AFC Hornchurch 0
Saturday 26th July
The Urchins went down 1-0 to a strong Biggleswade Town team in the latest of their pre-season friendlies. In a closely fought game, with a goal ruled off side and Simon Parker hitting the post, we had our chances. Our next friendly is away to East Thurrock United this coming Tuesday (29th July), kick off 7.45pm.

AFC Hornchurch 2 Welling United 1
Tuesday 22nd July
The Urchins came out on top in this entertaining pre-season friendly thanks to a fine goal from Des Boateng and a Dean Green penalty. Both Managers ringed the changes at half time and gained valuable experience as they shape their teams for the coming season. The Urchins now move on to their next friendly at Biggleswade Town this coming Saturday (26th July.)

Urchins Take Off at Concord
Saturday 19th July
Second half goals from Dean Green and Kris Lee earned the Urchins a 2-1 victory at Concord Rangers in our opening pre-season friendly. The action now moves to Bridge Avenue when we play hosts to a strong Welling United side this coming Tuesday evening (22nd July), kick-off 7.45pm

The Urchins are off to the Seaside!
The RPL 2008/09 fixtures have been released and the Urchins travel to Ramsgate on 16th August to play their curtain raiser. Our first home league game will take place the following Tuesday (19th August) when we entertain Carshalton Athletic.
